Scoutcraft Assistant Director – TFC

Objective: To work with the Scoutcraft Director to develop and execute a quality first year camper program.

Requirements for hire: Must be in good standing with the Boy Scouts of America, Conquistador Council, and Wehinahpay Mountain Camp.

Preferences for hire: Holds a valid certificate of training from the Outdoor Skills section of the National Camping School or has equivalent skills.
Experience teaching children (10 through 12).

 

Specific responsibilities: the Scoutcraft Assistant Director – TFC must have knowledge of and be able to teach the requirements set out for the first year camper program. Specific responsibilities include:

1. Aid the Scoutcraft Director in the supervision and motivation of the TFC staff in all their activities.
2. As assigned, aid the Scoutcraft Director in the training of the TFC staff in all of their activities.
3. Assume full direction of the first year camper area of the Scoutcraft area in the absence of the Scoutcraft Director, unless otherwise directed.
4. Offer a quality first-year-camper program which may include requirements from the Tenderfoot through First Class ranks.
5. Assist in the set-up and take-down of a quality Scoutcraft area.
6. Assist the Scoutcraft Director in the maintenance, inventory, security, safety, and wise use of all Scoutcraft Area equipment used in the first year camper program.
7.Maintain a strict discipline at all times when campers, leaders, and other staff are in the area.
8. Promote the Order of the Arrow and other special programs (ex. NYLT, NAYLE, etc.)
9. Participate in all camp-wide activities
10. Assist in the set-up and take-down of all camp facilities.
11. All other duties as assigned.
