Work with a professional staff advisor to build a team of seasonal staff and volunteers to operate our summer programs. Host interviews online and in-person with prospective staff and make hires as necessary. Work with full-time support staff to ensure contracts and paperwork are sent out on time. Work with a team of seasonal leadership staff to help plan and implement summer programs. Prepare and deliver a published leader’s guide detailing the camp programs and policies by early January. Host monthly touch-base meetings with seasonal leadership staff either in-person or virtually throughout the Winter and Spring months leading up to camp. Assist in hosting a kick-off event in late February for those looking to attend camp. Assist in hosting a training weekend in mid-May for the hired staff and volunteers. Attend a week-long training every 5 years to understand camp standards put in place by the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America. Ensure these standards are met each camping season through the national accreditation process.
Lead a staff of seasonal employees and volunteers to deliver a summer program to youth ages 10-17 and accompanying adults. Ensure outstanding customer service to everyone at camp through quick problem solving and immediate corrective actions. Directly supervise the Camp Program Director, two Camp Commissioners, Business Manager, and Commissary Director. Assist in counseling youth and adult employees in corrective actions as needed. Assist in staff terminations and hiring replacements as needed. Report all incidents involving BSA policy violations, accidents, and injuries immediately using the BSA reporting forms and tools. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Council Director of Support Services.
