Health Officer / Medic

Season: June 24 – August 10
Compensation: Weekly salary + housing & meals
Reports To: Camp Director

About the Role
The Camp Health Officer leads all in-camp medical care, ensuring a safe and well-prepared environment for campers and staff. This position oversees health screenings, emergency response, medical documentation, and compliance with Scouting NCAP standards and Oregon camp regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-response medical care within scope of protocols & certification
  • Assess when outside medical attention is needed
  • Conduct camper and staff arrival health checks
  • Maintain medication logs and incident documentation
  • Stock and manage medical supplies across camp
  • Support emergency planning and staff medical drills
  • Participate in staff training week and leadership meetings
  • Complete opening and closing inventories
  • Carry out standard all-staff responsibilities

Requirements

  • 18+ years old (21+ preferred)
  • Hold a current qualifying medical certification
  • Eligible to register with Scouting America and pass a background check
  • Able to live onsite for the full season (housing and most meals provided)
  • Physically capable of responding quickly in emergencies and maintaining clear communication

Required Certification

Must hold one of the following current certifications:

  • Licensed Physician
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • RN, LPN, or LVN
  • Physician Assistant
  • Paramedic
  • EMT (Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic)
  • Emergency Medical Responder (state-licensed or National Registry)
