First Year Camper Director

A. The First Year Camper Director is responsible to the Program Director. He / she is responsible for the supervision, training, and direction of the First Year Camper staff and the operation of its program.
B. Must be physically able to demonstrate and teach the proper use of all woods tools, including knives, axes, and saws. Also, must be able to demonstrate and teach at a level to pass all requirements for merit badges and activities offered. He/ she also must be physically and mentally capable of supervising other staff members and campers and be able to make immediate judgments and act regarding the safety of any and all participants in scout skills activities.
C. The First Year Camper Director will be responsible for ensuring a quality First Year Camper Program. The Director will supervise the Scout Skills staff in fulfilling the following programs for rank advancement:

o Scout Rank
o Tenderfoot Rank
o Second Class Rank
o First Class Rank
D. Under the supervision of the First Year Camper Director, other members of the First Year Camper staff will assist in fulfilling and supervising the following Merit Badges and programs:
o First Aid Merit Badge
o Handicraft Merit Badge of their choice
o Totin’ Chit & Fireman Chit
E. Keep attendance and advancement records, turning them in on time weekly.
F. The First Year Camper Director is responsible to see that lesson plans are written for all subjects instructed and these plans are approved by the Program Director.
G. Perform an opening and closing inventory of all program supplies, noting conditions and quantities of all supplies, and submit them to the Program Director.
H. Attend all Training / Staff meetings
I. Encourage and promote the BSA Advancement Program by all Troops.
J. Works with adult volunteer leaders to assist in the operation of the First Year Camper Program and the delivery of skills instruction.
K. Give support in personnel, facilities, and equipment to the other directors as mutually agreed upon.
L. Follows responsibilities as outlined in the Functions of the Program Staff.
M. Accept other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Camp Director.
