Summer Resident Camp Counselor

Working on camp staff means being part of something bigger than just a summer job-it’s about creating the kind of camp experience that you’d want to have yourself. Every staff member helps maintain a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every camper feels like they belong. You’ll be more than just an instructor or counselor-you’ll be a role model, setting the example for Scouts by living out the values of the Scout Oath and Law in everything you do. From helping set up and run program areas to joining in campwide traditions like flag ceremonies, campfires, and evening programs, you’ll play a part in bringing camp to life. Staff members also participate in training before the season starts, learning new skills, bonding as a team, and preparing for the weeks ahead. Once camp begins, you’ll work side by side with other staff to teach skills, lead activities, and encourage campers as they grow in confidence, character, and adventure. No two days look exactly the same-you might be teaching a new skill in the morning, running a big game in the afternoon, and singing around the campfire at night. While each position has its own specific responsibilities, every staff member contributes to the overall magic of camp by pitching in where needed, supporting fellow staff, and keeping campers safe through following Scouting America’s safeguarding and safety guidelines. It’s challenging, it’s rewarding, and it’s one of the most unforgettable jobs you’ll ever have.
