Archery Director

Qualifications:

  • Is at least 18 years of age.
  • Is qualified for archery instruction.
  • Is First Aid/C.P.R./AED certified.
  • Is a registered member of Scouting America.
  • Practices the Scout Oath and Law as a way of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Range and Target Activities Director.
  • Follow and maintain the policies of the Natural State Council, Scouting America, and local, state and federal laws.
  • Attend all area directors meetings, and participate in camp wide events, including flag assemblies.
  • Supervise, manage, and enforce the safety rules of the Archery Range.
  • Instruct and counsel the campers in various archery skills and merit badges.
  • Prepare fun, intriguing, hands on curriculum/lesson plans for your various class sessions and while instructing, conduct the session in a professional and well-mannered atmosphere.
  • Report any issues to the area director or Program Director immediately.
  • Keep the archery equipment and facilities in top condition and maintain an accurate weekly inventory.
  • Submit a written report at the close of camp which includes a complete, accurate inventory, along with suggestions for improving next year’s program.
  • Responsible for requesting necessary equipment for archery activities from the Shooting Sports Director in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Range and Target Activities Director, Program Director, Camp Commissioner and Camp Director.
  • Practice all SOPs for individual area management, injuries, and other camp emergencies.
  • Maintain NCAP Standards and turn in all NCAP Documents to the Program Director by April 1st in a complete and thorough manner.
  • Promote and maintain a positive and fun, safety-conscious attitude in all aspects of our camp atmosphere and ensure that all staff work as a team to accomplish the mission and vision of Camp Orr, Natural State Council, Scouting America.
