Job Description – Aquatics Director

Must be at least 21 years of age and have the ability to get along with others.  Must live on site with other camp staff in rustic cabins.  Be able to delegate and coordinate. Have a good knowledge of good camp program. Hold an unexpired National Camp School Certificate as an Aquatics Director for Resident Camping. Trained in First Aid and CPR. Registered with Scouting America and in good standing. Certified by a physician as able to participate as a staff member with these responsibilities. Have had a successful experience as a key Camp Staff member.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise the aquatics area.

• Enforce national aquatic standards.

• Supervise free and recreational swims

• Conduct Aquatics trainings to Scouts and Scouters throughout the week

• Train entire staff for an LBD

• Train lifeguards.

• Run and operate area in a safe manner.

• Directly supervise and train area staff.

• Provide Program Director with opening and closing inventory.

• Respond to all emergencies on the Waterfront and lead the camp staff in a lost bather rescue or drill.

• Work with Business Manager and Assistant Camp Director to order supplies needed in area  Essential Functions  Ability to be mobile and communicate with Scouts, Leaders and Staff.

Administer aid and coordinate emergency efforts when needed.

Respond to emergencies appropriately.

Inform the Camp Director of any health concerns.

Maintain records on all advancement with the Program Director and turn in all paperwork by 5 PM on Friday. Ensure all requirements & programs are conducted as prescribed by the National Office, Scouting America. Run and operate area in a safe manner. Participate in all camp activities and attend all staff meetings. Supervise and give guidance to CITs assigned to area. Ability to lift 100 lbs. and participate in unusual activities. Maintain standards and rules as outlined in the Staff Guide. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director and/or their designee.
