CAMP ROCK ENON SCOUT RESERVATION / SHENANDOAH AREA COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA

Camp Rock Enon Scout Reservation is nestled in the northwestern tip of Virginia, an easy 20 minute drive west of Winchester, VA and just minutes away from West Virginia. This traditional style Scout Camp offers  Summer camp programs for Scouts of all ages with sessions for Cubs  in grades 1st – 3rd (Tigers, Wolf & Bear), Webelos & AOL Scouts in grades 4th & 5th, Scouts BSA (age 11-18) and Venturing (age 14-20).  We offer resident, day-only and provisional opportunities for all programs. Our 900 acres of majestic forest provide an unlimited supply of opportunities to make your stay at CRE an experience of a lifetime. Scouts learn and explore as they seek the adventures only a summer camp experience can provide including Shooting Sports, Aquatics, Outdoor Skills, Handicraft, STEAM and Ecology programs. Camp Rock Enon has the BEST rock climbing and rappelling offered at a Scout Camp on the Mid Atlantic Coast. No climbing towers here! Our natural rock faces are one of the major attractions for Scouts looking for a real-life challenge.

FOOD SERVICE AT CAMP ROCK ENON

We have a professional commercial kitchen that we use to prepare, cook and serve nutritious and delicious food for our campers and staff throughout the summer. The Food Service team is key to the success of our camp and the experience of our Scouts, leaders, their families and our staff. As a member of the food service team the summer is filled with hard work, valuable real life experiences and great sense of community. All while building the necessary skills for a rewarding career in the food service industry.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SUMMER FOOD SERVICE STAFF MEMBER

• Age 16 or older
• Available for the summer from early June – July 30
• Enjoy cooking and maintaining a safe work environment
• Ability to solve problems and function independently with minimal supervision
• Attentive to safety and take common-sense precautions
• Enjoy trying new things
• Are you patient and able to remain calm under pressure

TYPICAL SUMMER WORK SCHEDULE

The typical week for the staff begins on Sunday at 11am and continues through Saturday at 10am, with 24 hours off between sessions. All staff also gets one evening during the week off. The food service team will usually start their day at 6am for the breakfast service at 8am. Lunch is served at 12noon and dinner at 6pm. There is time between each meal prep and service for breaks and some rest.

Salary:

• Dining Hall Stewards: $250 – 300 per week + room & board
• Kitchen Aides $300 – 400 per week + room & board
• Kitchen Managers $500 – 600 per week + room & board
