About the Position:
Looking for a kitchen position in a fun environment with a sense of adventure? This could be the job for you!
We are a scout camp located in the beautiful Sequoia National Forest. Our program focuses on outdoor education and youth development. We serve a wide array of groups including scouts and non-scouters. The kitchen is owned and operated by the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Kitchen staff members are scheduled to work 5-6 days a week for 6-8 hour shifts each day with breaks included.
We are looking for enthusiastic and goal driven people with a kitchen background who work well in a fast-paced environment. You will join a team of professionals focused on an A+ kitchen experience for our customers, cleanliness of our facility and quality of the products we provide. We regularly feed groups of 100-500 people with an average of 250 people per meal over our 6 weeks of Summer Camp
Summary of Responsibilities:
We require all employees learn the entire kitchen operation, so everyone is accountable for the area we work in. You will specialize and be responsible for one of the following areas:
-KITCHEN: Head Cooks: Ensure that food is properly and safely prepared, cooked, and served. Adhere to health and safety standards throughout the facility.
Assistant Cooks: Continuously stock and monitor the buffet style serving lines, clean all cook stations at the end of service.
Prep Staff: Pull stock, helping prep/pan for meals and assisting head/asst. cooks, dining hall and salad bar.
COMMISSARY: Intake of food service items, organizing food deliveries and inventory management of dry food and refrigerated/frozen items.
-DISH PIT: Clean equipment and dishes; a mixture of handwashing and machine washing. Set up and maintain Trash, Recycle, Compost Bins, and Bus Tubs.
-DINING HALL: Front of house cleanliness, restock utensils, pull trash, and replace paper towels/soap, mop floors, wipe tables and windows, restock coffee, juice and water station.
-YOGURT/SALAD BAR: Organize and maintain yogurt and salad bars (set up, restock, and tear down).
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, California Food Handler’s Permit, CPR and First Aid Certification, 2yrs+ job experience in food service (preferred), Ability to work effectively in a group environment, Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Requirements:
21 years old, Food Manager certification
Description: Directs and supervises kitchen food services
Duties: Works with Commissary Director and Business Manager in implementing food service.
Provide the nutritional needs of campers and staff.
General supervision of kitchen staff, maintenance, and cleanliness within the kitchen facility.
Adherence to OSHA, California Health Department, and BSA rules and regulations regarding food service.
Preparation of kitchen area for unannounced Health inspections and BSA inspections
Reports to the Business Manager
