Kitchen Staff and Management

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

BSA Summer Camp Staff positions are designed for those who are enthusiastic about the outdoors, interested in gaining Leadership experience and looking to make lifelong friendships.

About the Position:

Looking for a kitchen position in a fun environment with a sense of adventure? This could be the job for you!

We are looking for enthusiastic and goal driven people with a kitchen background who work well in a fast-paced environment. You will join a team of professionals focused on an A+ kitchen experience for our customers, cleanliness of our facility and quality of the products we provide. We regularly feed groups of 350-450 people over 6 weeks of Summer Camp.

Room and Board provided– Required to live onsite during employment period.

Summary of Responsibilities:

We require all employees learn the entire kitchen operation, so everyone is accountable for the area we work in. You will specialize and be responsible for one of the following areas:

-KITCHEN MANAGER: 21+ responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of a kitchen. Key responsibilities typically include:

  • Food Preparation
  • Staff Supervision
  • Inventory Management
  • Safety and Sanitation
  • Coordination with Other Departments
  • Problem Resolution
  • Adherence to Regulations

-HEAD CHEF: 21+ Ensure that food is properly and safely prepared, cooked, and served. Adhere to health and safety standards throughout the facility.

-ASSISTANT COOK: Continuously stock and monitor the buffet style serving lines, clean all cook stations at the end of service.

-PREP STAFF: Pull stock, helping prep/pan for meals and assisting head/asst. cooks, lodge and salad bar.

-DISH PIT: Clean equipment and dishes; a mixture of handwashing and machine washing. Set up and maintain Trash, Recycle, Compost Bins, and Bus Tubs.

-DINNING HALL: Front of house cleanliness, restock utensils, pull trash, and replace paper towels/soap, mop floors, wipe tables and windows, restock coffee, juice and water station.

-YOGURT/SALAD BAR: Organize and maintain yogurt and salad bars (set up, restock, and tear down).

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, California Food Handler’s Permit, CPR and First Aid Certification, 2yrs+ job experience in food service (preferred), Ability to work effectively in a group environment, Ability to lift 50 lbs. Certs can be completed as apart of on the job training.

Salary Range- $16- $25 per hour DOE with opportunities for OT. 40 Hr work week
