Aquatics Director – Camp Merz, Chautauqua Lake

Are you ready for a summer of fun, leadership, and adventure? Join us at Camp Merz, a picturesque scout camp with a rich 90-year history, located on the beautiful shores of Chautauqua Lake in Western NY, near the Pennsylvania border. We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Aquatics Director to lead our Waterfront Program and be a part of our vibrant, seasoned team. With 1500 feet of lakefront, we offer a full range of aquatic activities, including swimming, sailing, canoeing, and kayaking. Position Overview:

The Aquatics Director will oversee all aspects of the waterfront program, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers. This position offers competitive pay, with all meals and lodging provided in our newly renovated, air-conditioned waterfront building. Get ready to lead, inspire, and create unforgettable memories!

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

•              Must be 21 years of age at the start of employment.

•              Current BSA Aquatics Instructor certification from a National Camping School or the ability to successfully complete the training prior to camp start.

•              Registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.

•              Ability to reside at camp during the camping season on working days.

•              Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and youth development.

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:

•              Experience in training and managing a staff.

•              Background in camp aquatics programs.

•              Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor.

•              Excellent communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities and Tasks:

•              Uphold and promote the Scout Oath and Law in personal conduct and leadership.

•              Train and manage the Camp Merz Waterfront staff.

•              Prepare and maintain the program area to operate safely and efficiently.

•              Collaborate with the Camp Director, Program Director, and Camp Ranger to ensure compliance with BSA and state standards.

Camp Schedule:

•              One week of Cub Camp and three weeks of Scouts BSA.

•              Required attendance for Staff Week and Camp Closing.

•              Report to camp on June 22nd for Staff Week Training; camp concludes on August 10th.
