Job Description: COPE Director
Essential Functions:
- The COPE Director reports directly to the Program and Camp Director.
- The COPE Director must be at least 21 years old.
- The COPE Director must have the physical capabilities to lead and participate in climbing activities and must hold a National Camping School COPE Director certification. (The Daniel Boone Council will pay for all NCS training expenses, excluding travel).
- Must be a registered member of Scouting America or agree to become registered.
- Adhere to all camp policies listed in the Camp Staff Manual.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Supervise, Train, and Motivate COPE Instructor staff in all their activities.
- Ensure Scouting America NCAP COPE Standards and all safety regulations are followed.
- Lead and Instruct youth participants in Team building initiatives, low and high cope course facilitation, and participation in Open COPE programming.
- Direct the set up and take down of the program area.
- Maintain accurate Inventory and Logs of COPE equipment.
- Participate in all camp activities.
- Manage other paperwork as needed.
- Ensure control and security of the COPE Program area and all equipment, completion of daily checklists, and communication of any repairs needed promptly.
- Implement COPE specific Emergency Action Plan protocols if necessary.
- During the end of the summer season, complete a close out report detailing current inventories, condition of equipment, turn in all Rope/Equipment logs and checklists, staff evaluations, and recommendations for future supplies. This will be turned in before leaving property at the end of contract.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Weekly Compensation is dictated by personal experience and job duties. The Base Salary for the COPE Director position starts at $450/week.
