Job Description: Health Officer

Essential Functions:

  • The Health Officer must be at least 18 years old.
  • The Health Officer reports directly to the Camp Director.
  • Must be a registered member of Scouting America, or agree to become registered.
  • Adhere to all camp policies listed in the Camp Staff Manual.

Required at Start of Camp Season:

  • The Health Officer must be one of the following: Licensed Physician, Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Nurse (RN, LPN, or LVN), Licensed Physician Assistant, Paramedic, or EMT.
  • The Health Officer must be certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED, or council approved equivalent.
  • Completes the Camp Health Officer self-study Training course.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Follow Camp Health Protocols and Camp Emergency Action Plans.
  • Work closely with the Camp Director to ensure all Health and Safety measures and NCAP standards are being followed.
  • Supervise Medical Health Check and Health Forms during check in for all participants and Staff.
  • Administer first aid and emergency treatment, maintain and track health information for all patients in the Camp Health Logs, monitor and resupply first aid kits in all camp program areas, buildings, and vehicles, dispense and secure medications, and maintain cleanliness of health lodge evaluation rooms.
  • Ensure control and security of medications and personal health information, manage first aid and medication supplies. Inform the Camp Director when more supplies are needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

The Health Officer is a crucial member of the Camp Leadership Team. You will work alongside your Co-Health Officer and share the above duties. This position will require you to be available 24 hours a day when participants and staff are on property, as such, sufficient breaks and time off will be scheduled to ensure your own health and wellbeing.

Weekly Salary is based off personal experience and job duties. The Base Salary for the Health Officer position is $600/week.
