WATERFRONT/AQUATICS DIRECTOR
Reports To: Program Director
Supervises: Aquatics Staff
Primary Functions: To run the day-to-day operations of our summer camp aquatics program by providing leadership to camp staff as assigned.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise, train, and motivate the aquatics program staff in all their activities.
• Improve check-in procedures and protocols to safely and efficiently get all visitors to camp through the check-in process in a minimum amount of time.
• Offer a quality aquatics program that follows state, federal, and BSA safety guidelines. This may include merit badges classes, trainings, mile swim, polar bear swim, swim lessons, motor boating, sailing, and aquatics outposts.
• Maintenance, inventory, security, safety, and use of all aquatic equipment
• Set-up and take-down of swimming and boating areas.
• Once certification has been received, train all waterfront staff as lifeguards.
• Assist the Program Director as requested in camp-wide events or special unit requests.
• Collect/submit class rosters online and update Scouts’ progress.
• During the end of the summer camping season, complete a written close-out report of the program area that includes an inventory of all equipment, including equipment condition and recommendations for next year’s supplies.
• Submit the report to the Program Director /Camp Director before leaving camp property.
• All other duties as assigned.
Critical Elements of the Position:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be a role model for staff members and campers.
• Must become a Red Cross Lifeguard (will be paid for)
• Must receive National Camp School Certification in Aquatics (will be paid for)
• Follows all health and safety guidelines made by the County, State, USA, and Scouting America.
• Background checks required.
• Extensive walking and moderate lifting required.
