Ecology Director

The Ecology Director must have knowledge of sound conservation and ecological practices and be able to instruct campers in these principles. Specific responsibilities include:

•      Supervise, train, and motivate the Ecology Staff in all their activities.
•      Offer a quality Ecology program which may include merit badges, Troop Naturalist, troop and patrol Goodman projects, troop leader’s roundtables, and Cub conservation activities.
•      Offer a quality fishing program which may include the Fishing and Fly Fishing merit badges.
•      Direct the set-up and take-down of a quality Ecology Area and lakefront instructional area.
•      Work with the Camp Ranger to provide leadership to the completion of conservation service projects in conjunction with the Camp Conservation Plan.
•      Maintenance, inventory, security, safety, and wise use of all ecology equipment.
•      Maintain strict discipline at all times when campers, leaders, and other staff are in the area.
•      Represent the Ecology Area at all area director meetings.
•      Participate in all camp-wide activities as assigned.
•      Make a written advancement report on all Ecology Area activities at the end of each week.
•      Conduct program staff evaluations for Ecology Staff as requested and submit a written report on the work of each of the staff at the close of camp.
•      Submit a complete inventory of all Ecology Area equipment, including condition and recommendation for next year’s supplies.
•      Assist in the set-up and take-down of all camp facilities.
•      All other duties as assigned.

Critical Elements of the Position:

•      Must be 21 years of age or older.

•      Must be a role model for staff members and campers.

•      Follows all health and safety guidelines made by the County, State, USA, and Scouting America.

•      Valid National Camp School card for position for dates of camp

•      Extensive walking and moderate lifting required.

Compensation:

•     $300-$500/week d.o.e.

•     Room & Board while camp is in session

•     Access to available Pro-Deal programs to our camp staff
