Must be 21 years of age and at minimum hold a current EMT license, as well as current CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers. Also possesses some managerial experience. Oversees all medical operations of the summer camp. In the event of an emergency, is the medical representative in charge until emergency personnel arrive at Camp. Enforces all National BSA, Katahdin Area Council, and State of Maine health and safety rules and regulations. Keeps accurate medical logs, maintains medical supplies and equipment, cleans all facilities and supplies (linen, mop heads, etc.) used in the health lodge, checks and maintain camper, leader, and staff medical files, provides and supplies materials for program area first aid boxes, and is customer service oriented. Reviews and files medical forms as they arrive at the Health Lodge in advance of camp as well as make out accompanying swimming and boating buddy tags. Makes a reasonable effort to see that medications not picked up at the end of the week are returned to campers. Must be able to get to any area in camp quickly and administer medical attention at any time during the summer. Manages the Health Officer staff. Attends weekly Area Director Meetings when possible. Is responsible to the Camp Director.
