Shooting Sports Director

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Current National Camping School (provided)
  • BSA Shooting Sports Director
    • NRA Muzzleloading Rifle Training
    • BSA merit badge instruction plan
      • Training prior to National Camping School (paid for by camp)
  • Prerequisite NRA Training
    • NRA Basic Rifle Training
    • NRA Instructor Rifle Training
    • NRA Basic Shotgun Training
    • NRA Instructor Training

Responsible to Program Director and Camp Director

  • Responsibilities:
    • Manage Archery Instructor
    • Must complete the NRA training provided by the Council Shooting Sports Committee
      • Responsibilities:
        • Supervise Archery Range
        • Provide instruction in Archery Merit Badge
        • All other duties as assigned by Shooting Sports Director, Program Director, and Camp Director
    • Supervise Rifle Range, Shotgun Range & Archery Range
    • Provide instruction for Shotgun Merit Badge
    • Assist with shooting competitions
      • All other duties assigned by Shooting Sports Director, Program Director, and Camp Director
  • Provide instruction in Shooting Sports Merit Badges Sessions
    • Course outlines provided
  • Plan and organize shooting competitions during open time shooting times
    • All other duties as assigned by Program Director and Camp Director

Essential functions of job include:

  • Auditory and visual ability to supervise shooting sports areas and programs
  • Ability to perform emergency first aid tasks
