Emergency Medical Technician

Location: Onteora Scout Reservation – Livingston Manor, New York

Position: Full-Time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team at Onteora Scout Reservation located in the beautiful Catskill region of New York. This is a full-time position for the duration of the summer camp season. (Late June through Mid August)

Responsibilities:

Provide emergency medical care and first aid to campers and staff as needed.
Assess and triage medical situations, determining the appropriate level of care required.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
Maintain accurate and thorough medical records for all patient encounters.
Collaborate with camp leadership and other medical staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
Conduct routine checks of medical supplies and equipment, restocking as necessary.
Assist in the development and implementation of safety protocols and emergency action plans.
Participate in staff training sessions related to medical emergencies and first aid.

Qualifications:

Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of New York.
Previous experience working as an EMT in a camp, outdoor, or similar setting preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with campers, staff, and parents.
Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
CPR certification required.
Wilderness First Aid certification is a plus.
Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
